Dorothy’s is a bakery at 2318 N. Clark St. in Lincoln Park, run by husband-and-wife owners Brian and Taylor Bruns. It is named for Brian’s grandmother, Dorothy, who encouraged his early interest in cooking and baking. The bakery started at Chicago farmers markets, and the Clark Street shop is its first permanent storefront.
Sourdough breads are baked daily, including miche, black rye and polenta loaves, along with focaccia and English muffins. Bagels come in flavors such as everything, pretzel, Old Bay and Asiago. The pastry case holds butter, chocolate and crème brûlée croissants, savory scones, canelés, danishes, fruit tarts, cookies and brownies, and specialty boules and pastries rotate on weekends. The shop also serves bagel sandwiches and espresso drinks.
Dorothy’s is open daily in the morning and early afternoon and closes on major holidays. It still sells at farmers markets, including Green City Market in Lincoln Park.
