Lilliput Books is an independent bookstore at 2150 N. Halsted St., on Halsted between Dickens and Webster avenues, a few blocks north of the Armitage Avenue shops. For another neighborhood bookstore, Kibbitznest Books & Brews is on Clybourn Avenue.
What it’s known for
Owner Yasmeen Schuller, a former digital marketing executive, opened Lilliput on April 5, 2025, Shelf Awareness reported. The name comes from the Lilliputians of Gulliver’s Travels, meant to suggest a shop that is small but mighty. It is a general-interest store for all ages, with a children’s section in the back, a section on Chicago topics, and gifts, crafts and coloring books. The store’s shop dog is named Lily.
Book clubs meet monthly. These include genre clubs, silent book clubs and a Chicago chapter of Reese’s Book Club. Events require a free ticket because space is limited. Members of the store’s book clubs get 10 percent off the club book. Shelf Awareness reported that the store also planned story hours, paint-and-sip nights and a children’s summer reading program. The store takes special orders, offers pre-orders and a personal shopper service, and sells audiobooks through Libro.fm.
