Athenian Room is a casual Greek restaurant at 807 W. Webster Ave. in Lincoln Park. It has been in the neighborhood for decades; WTTW’s Check, Please! described it as more than 40 years old when it featured the restaurant in 2014.
What it’s known for
The signature dish is chicken kalamata: a roasted half chicken served over Greek fries, which are steak fries dressed in an oil-and-vinegar sauce. The menu also includes spanakopita, gyros as a sandwich or dinner platter, and feta served with olive oil. The Infatuation notes that lemon rice soup is offered only in winter.
The restaurant does not serve alcohol itself. Instead, it connects by a walkway to Glascott’s, the bar next door, and Glascott’s servers take drink orders at the tables.
