Muhājir is a wood-fired restaurant at 2630 N. Clark St. in Lincoln Park, between Wrightwood Avenue and Diversey Parkway. Chef Zubair Mohajir opened it on July 1, 2026, with chef de cuisine and partner Jacob Dela Cruz.
What it’s known for
The menu follows the historic spice routes, tracing connections from Chennai, where Mohajir’s family has roots, through the Middle East, North Africa, Sicily, Andalusia and Portugal, with Filipino influences from Dela Cruz. The name comes from an Arabic and Urdu word for migrant and relates to the chef’s family name, FSR Magazine reported.
Live-fire cooking anchors the menu. Dishes on the official menu include beef cheek nihari, Navayath lamb biryani, mussels Bicol style, a tandoori half Cornish hen and wood-fired branzino. The centerpiece is the $150 “Duck Numidian Experience,” a tableside presentation that FSR says is based on a centuries-old Numidian recipe. Behind the dining room is Bobo, a Filipino street-market-inspired cocktail bar; The Infatuation recommends its duck sisig.
