Alcott ES (Louisa May Alcott Elementary) is a CPS elementary school at 2625 N Orchard St, just north of Lincoln Park High School. It serves pre-K through 8th grade and listed 554 students on its CPS profile in October 2026. It is a separate school from Alcott College Prep, a CPS high school outside Lincoln Park.

Alcott offers CPS full-day preschool for 4-year-olds (listed as full with a waitlist in October 2026), and its preschool holds a Gold Preschool ExceleRate rating on the CPS profile. Apply for pre-K through Chicago Early Learning.

Admissions: Alcott has a neighborhood attendance area; students who live in it can enroll in the general program. Others can apply to the K–8 open-enrollment program through GoCPS (lottery; priority for siblings, staff and Alcott pre-K students). CPS reported 223 applicants and 5 offers in the previous cycle.

The CPS profile showed an accountability status of “Good Standing” as of October 2026. Test results, enrollment detail and the state summative designation are published on the Illinois Report Card. See the CPS school profile for current programs and admissions, and our Lincoln Park schools guide for how attendance areas and GoCPS work.
