Chengdu Impression is a Sichuan restaurant at 2545 N. Halsted St., at Wrightwood Avenue in Lincoln Park, about two blocks from the CTA Fullerton station. The Halsted restaurant is the original Chengdu Impression; the group now also has locations in Wicker Park, Edgewater and Logan Square, and a sister restaurant, Dongpo Impression, in Chinatown.
What it’s known for
The restaurant describes its food as authentic and creative Sichuan cuisine. Time Out Chicago, writing when it was new in 2014, said the kitchen mixes classic and modern techniques. The Infatuation, which rated it 8.0, recommends the cold noodle salad, shrimp with crispy rice, mapo tofu and mala fish filet, and says scallion pancakes hold up well for carryout.
The Infatuation describes a bright dining room that works for a relaxed weeknight dinner or a big group, and calls the takeout operation a strength. The website promotes its dan dan noodles and spring rolls.
