Clover Park is a 0.41-acre Chicago Park District mini-park at 2210 N. Southport Ave., two blocks south of Fullerton Avenue and four blocks west of Racine Avenue in western Lincoln Park. Trebes Park and Oz Park are the nearest larger parks, and the Park District sends visitors there for programs.
What it’s known for
The City bought the property in 1958 and transferred it to the Chicago Park District under the 1957 Chicago Park and City Exchange of Functions Act. The park soon had a basketball court, a sandbox and playground equipment. It was officially named Clover Park in 1975, one of several Chicago parks named for plants and trees at that time.
In 1992 the Park District rehabilitated the park, adding a soft-surface playground, new trees and ornamental iron fencing along Southport Avenue. The Sheffield Neighborhood Association led fundraising for Clover Park and other parks in the area. Today the park has a playground and a play slab with two basketball hoops.
